Netflix is ready for a second serving of Beef.

The streamer has picked up a second season of the anthology series from creator Lee Sung Jin. Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan, Charles Melton and Cailee Spaeny will head the cast for the second installment, which will have eight 30-minute episodes (down from 10 for season one).

Oscar winner Youn Yuh-jung (Minari) has also signed on to the cast. Roles for each of the actors are not being revealed yet.

Season two will center on a young couple that “witnesses an alarming fight between their boss and his wife, triggering chess moves of favors and coercion in the elitist world of a country club and its Korean billionaire owner.”

A second season has been in the works for some time, following Beef’s strong showing at the 2023 Emmys — where it won eight awards, including best limited/anthology series, acting honors for leads Ali Wong and Steven Yeun and writing and directing statues for Jin. Isaac and Mulligan were in negotiations to star in season two during the summer.

Following the Emmys, Jin told The Hollywood Reporter that he is “constantly writing stuff down” for potential story ideas: “I think Beef will just by its title always have [conflict] simmering underneath, but in terms of what the other layers could be, that’s something that I’d really need to take some time and see deep inside what wants to come out.”

Jin will once again serve as showrunner on Beef, executive producing with Yeun, Wong and Jake Schreier. A24 produces the series.

Isaac recently signed on to a vampire thriller titled Flesh of the Gods opposite Kristen Stewart and will play the title role in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, due for release next year. Mulligan earned her third Oscar nomination earlier this year for Maestro and starred opposite Adam Sandler in Netflix’s feature Spaceman. Riverdale star Melton is coming off of Netflix’s May December. Spaeny’s recent credits include Civil War, Alien: Romulus and Priscilla.
