Who Are the Law & Order Season 24 Guest Stars?

Season 24 of Law & Order is bringing in some familiar faces. TVLine reports that Ryan Eggold, who is just coming off a 5-season run on New Amsterdam, is set to guest star as Matt Riley, the brother of Det. Vince Riley. Riley is played by Veep star Reid Scoot, who does bear enough of a resemblance to Eggold to pass as his brother, so kudos to the casting department on this one. Scott joined the cast of Law & Order last season.

But Eggold won’t be the only familiar face showing up on Law & Order. Law & Order: SVU mainstay Mariska Hargitay is also set to appear on the show. Talk about a guest star. And Hargitay might even be pulling triple duty this year, considering Christopher Meloni teased she might be making an appearance in Law & Order: Organized Crime this season.

Hargitay had previously also agreed that it was time to share a scene with Meloni, who plays Detective Elliot Stabler, saying: “Chris and I were talking about it, and it’s time,” she said. “It’s time now for us. This was a long time not being in each other’s universe. That’s why we did the calls and stuff like that. But we’re excited to get back in there, get back in the ring.”

Franchise vet Elizabeth Marvel is also set to guest star on Law & Order, reprising her SVU role of Defense Attorney Rita Calhoun. She has played the character in over a dozen episodes.

Season 24 of Law & Order will look very different than Season 23. The Season 23 finale of the show saw Camryn Manheim depart the role of Lt. Kate Dixon on the long-running Dick Wolf procedural, with Maura Tierney, who most will remember for her decade-long stint on the NBC drama ER, joining the show in Season 24 as a new Lt. Manheim wasn’t the only Season 23 departure, though. Fan-favorite DA also Jack McCoy stepped down and was replaced by Scandal’s own President Tony Goldwyn, playing DA Nicholas Baxter.

And, of course, Jeffrey Donovan exited the show last summer, with TVLine reporting then that he was let go for creative reasons. He was replaced by Reid Scott as Det. Vincent Riley.

Law & Order is NBC’s procedural drama following the personal and professional lives of detectives at the New York City Police Department and attorneys at the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office. The series — which was created by Dick Wolf, the same mind behind the One Chicago and FBI worlds — is the first of the Law & Order franchise, which also includes Law & Order: Special Victims Unit; Law & Order: Organized Crime; and the since-cancelled Law & Order: Criminal Intent; Law & Order: Trial by Jury; Law & Order: LA; and Law & Order: True Crime.

The current ensemble of Law & Order includes Hugh Dancy, Mehcad Brooks, and Oldelya Halevi. The show is set to return to NBC for Season 24 on Thursday, October 3rd. Brooks was recently announced to be joining Season 3 of And Just Like That, the Max revival of the hit HBO series Sex and the City, but his role is said to not affect his time on Law & Order.
