Bella Thorne appeared at the Hotel Cap du Eden Roc for Chopard’s “Once Upon a Time” Cannes Film Festival event on Tuesday wearing a deep-brown gown with matching chocolate-toned René Caovilla Cleopatra sandals.
The luxury Italian footwear brand is well known for its signature Cleopatra heel, an open-toed stiletto with a coil that wraps several times around the ankle in the shape of a snake. The coveted Cleopatra recently celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2023, and a book has since been published in honor of the uniquely designed shoe.

The brand acknowledged the milestone with an anniversary party at Los Angeles’ Chateau Marmont in December, which showed off copies of the book and several iterations of the shoe in display boxes — with many more sported by guests. The book includes a wide range of images and illustrations showcasing the artistry behind Cleopatra and the history of the shoe.
Now entering its sixth decade on the market, the Cleopatra sandal is offered in a myriad of styles, with materials ranging from satin to crystal to velvet. Some have a low platform heel, some have a high stiletto, but all feature the instantly recognizable snake design.
The brown Cleos worked well with Thorne’s dress, which consisted of a strapless corset bodice flaring into a full skirt with a significant slit, allowing her iconic shoes to be seen. The actress’ shining top juxtaposed with the more subdued fabric of the skirt. She rounded out the look with Chopard accessories.
Earlier at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, Thorne wore a maroon Vivienne Westwood gown along with nude leather mules at the Italian Pavilion for the Filming Italy Sardegna Festival 2024.
It was recently announced that Thorne will direct two feature films, “Color Your Hurt” and “Ash Beneath the Current.”
