Bella Thorne tweets she wants out of #MeToo movement after Asia Argento claims Jimmy Bennett 'sexually attacked' her
Singer and actress Bella Thorne tweeted on Wednesday that she did not want to be a part of the #MeToo movement following Asia Argento’s claims that the then 17-year-old Jimmy Bennett “sexually assaulted” her.
“I’m disgusted,” Thorne wrote as she shared a link from Deadline about Argento launching “Phase Two” of #MeToo. “No longer want to be apart of the #metoo movement. Jimmy was a young kid.”
Previously, Argento denied Bennett’s claim that she had sex with him while he was underage until text messages were leaked stating that the two did have sex.

The 20-year-old former Disney star went on to tweet, “If this is what the me too movement is going to be about now I’m not here for it,” and “Victim shaming. Just awful.”
Thorne initially voiced her support of the #MeToo movement when she revealed she was also a sexual assault survivor. “I was sexually abused and physically growing up from the day I can remember till I was 14 … when I finally had the courage to lock my door at night and sit by it,” Bella shared on Instagram in January. “All damn night. Waiting for someone to take advantage of my life again. Over and over I waited for it to stop and finally it did. But some of us aren’t as lucky to get out alive. Please today stand up for every soul Mistreated. #timesup.”
She also wrote on Twitter in January, “I never knew what was right or wrong growing up..I didn’t know the person sneaking into my bed room at night was a bad person.”
According to TMZ, Bennett plans to file a sexual assault report with the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department after Argento’s lawyer released a statement that claimed Bennett attacked her.
