Ben Affleck Flaunts Nike Dunk Obsession in Super Rare Shoes That Resell for $24,000
More from Footwear News
Ben Affleck pulled out one of the most coveted sneaker grails of all time.
The actor and producer laced up a pair of “What the Dunk” Nike SB Dunk Lows while walking around Los Angeles on Friday. Husband of Jennifer Lopez, Affleck was carrying a cup of iced coffee (as is his habit) and wearing jeans, a T-shirt and one of his favorite plaid button downs.
Affleck is a noted sneakerhead, owning his fair share of rare pairs. He’s been spotted out multiple times in styles like the Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Low OG “Reverse Mocha” as well as the Travis Scott x Nike SB “Cactus Jack” sneakers. Just in February, he was seen in the Nike SB Dunk Low “Eire,” which released in 2006 and was inspired by Ireland’s 1916 fight for independence. But, it seems he has more we have yet to see.
The director, producer and star of the 2023 film “Air” was seen on Friday wearing the 2007 “What the Dunk” Nike SB Dunk release. The shoe is a collage of colors, patterns and fabrications, which pull from prior Dunk color ways. Included in the design are nods to Dunk styles like the “Heineken,” “Tiffany,” “Lucky,” “Unlucky,” “Pigeon” and “Tie-Dye.” There are 31 different Dunks incorporated into the style.
Nike has since adopted the “What the…” concept into other shoes, but the Nike SB Dunk was the first and remains the most coveted. Designed by Peter Moore, it initially retailed for $120 and was intended to be the “Dunk to end all Dunks.” Stadium Goods has the “What the Dunk” available for $24,270 and up. Other stars like Travis Scott also own the shoe.
In terms of Affleck, he also owns the Nike SB Dunk Low “What The P-Rod.” That collage shoe was made in collaboration with pro skater Paul Rodriguez and released in 2021. Affleck was spotted in them earlier this year.
