Benny Blanco Says He Was the ‘Last One to Know’ He Was in Love With Selena Gomez
Selena Gomez turned Benny Blanco‘s love on so effectively, he didn’t even realize it was happening in the moment.
In a new interview with Wall Street Journal published Thursday (April 25), the producer opened up about falling in love with pop star, whom he started dating in June. “I was the last one to know,” he recalled. “It’s crazy how your partner could just be sitting there the whole time, right in front of your eyes, and you don’t even notice, and then you have that Clueless moment where you’re like, ‘Wait, I’m in love.’”

The “Eastside” artist also revealed that he finally realized his feelings for Gomez while the pair were in a recording session together. Most recently, the collaborators-turned-couple worked on the Only Murders in the Building star’s August single “Single Soon,” which, ironically, finds the singer celebrating her newfound independence.
Since then, Gomez has released another track titled “Love On,” produced by The Monsters & Strangerz and Isaiah Tejada. She’s confirmed in recent months that she’s working on a new album, which may yield even more team-ups from the Emmy nominee and her beau — who also previously worked together on Blanco’s 2019 single “I Can’t Get Enough” with Tainy and J Balvin.
In addition to music, Gomez and Blanco have bonded over another shared passion — food. The Rare Beauty founder leads a cooking show called Selena + Chef on Max (as well as the upcoming Selena + Restaurant on Food Network), and the “Lonely” hitmaker is gearing up to publish a cookbook titled Open Wide this spring.
Blanco told WSJ that he and his girlfriend are often in the kitchen together, and recently prepared a steakhouse dinner for their families. The pair have been open about their relationship ever since Gomez confirmed that they were dating in a series of Instagram comments in December, later posting photos commemorating their Valentine’s Day celebrations and their “first virtual date.”
