Peters co-founded the event with Mary Tyler Moore in 1998. More than 2,000 homeless cats and dogs from tri-state area animal rescue groups have been introduced by members of the Broadway community at the event, with approximately 85% of them finding homes.

This year's program begins at 3 p.m., with celebrity presentations between 5 and 6:30 p.m. at Shubert Alley, located between West 44th and 45th streets in Manhattan.
