Best cheese pizza in Palm Beach County for National Cheese Pizza Day

Let’s say hello to September and its promise of restaurant deals, long-weekend brunches and other tasty reasons to stay upbeat in the stormy season. Some of those tasty reasons:

? The start of September is also the start of the month-long, prix fixe menu promotions known as Flavor Palm Beach and Downtown Delray Beach Restaurant Month.

? Plus, there are restaurant specials that aren’t part of those discount dining campaigns.

Cheese pizza holiday

Tuesday, Sept. 5 is National Cheese Pizza Day, which brings to mind the best cheese pizza I’ve had in recent days: Adrienne’s Original Sicilian pie ($24) at the months-old Adrienne’s Pizzabar in downtown West Palm Beach.

The 14-inch square pie is a thin-crust pan pizza, which is sliced into small, easy-to-grab rectangles. I loved the airy yet crisp crust and the mix of cheeses (mozzarella, Parmesan, pecorino) atop a thin layer of tomato sauce. (And, by the way, those slices reheat nicely in the toaster oven the next day!)

Adrienne’s Pizzabar is at 378 S. Rosemary Ave. in West Palm Beach, 561-834-0300.

I featured the restaurant in this week’s story about five new pizza spots in Palm Beach County. You can read that roundup here.

September brunching

Looking for a nice spot for brunch this Labor Day weekend? My colleague Eddie Ritz narrowed the list to some local favorites. You can read his holiday brunch roundup here.

I would add to that one of the best breakfast deals in downtown Delray Beach: the “Good Mornin’ Delray” breakfast sandwich at The Bridge Café. You get a choice of bacon-egg-cheese, sausage-egg-cheese or veggie-egg-cheese with a cup of coffee for $10.

The deal is part of September’s Downtown Delray Beach Restaurant Month promotion. The Bridge Café (formerly Over the Bridge Café) is at 814 E. Atlantic Ave.

September dining promotions

A menu favorite at 1000 North restaurant in Jupiter: the Charleston she-crab soup.

The annual Flavor Palm Beach dining-deal promotion has 58 participating restaurants this year. That means dozens of prix-fixe menus to check out. It also means we can venture into fine-dining restaurants at more affordable prices.

I featured five of those fancy places in my Flavor Palm Beach story this week, with a focus on good value for the price.

You can read about those restaurant menu deals here!

One more fancy menu: 1000 North

I would add to the fine-favorites list the $64 three-course Flavor menu at 1000 North restaurant in Jupiter. Originally the waterfront favorite had restricted the deal to early-bird hours. But they’ve decided to make it available all night during dinner service, which starts at 5 p.m.

What I’d order at dinner: I’d start with the Charleston she-crab soup with lump crab, sherry and smoked paprika because it’s always a treat. For the main course, the grilled market fish with heirloom tomato salad, toasted cornbread and pickled onions. And for dessert, the key lime mousse cake with mango chutney. The special menu price does not include drinks, tax or tip.

1000 North is at 1000 N. U.S. Hwy 1, Jupiter, 561-570-1000, 1000North.com

Other dining deals

Indian classic: Chef Pushkar Marathe's butter chicken at Stage restaurant in Palm Beach Gardens.

Both of chef Pushkar Marathe’s Palm Beach Gardens restaurants are offering “Summer Send Off” prix-fixe, lunch and dinner menus throughout September.

At his landmark Stage Kitchen restaurant, popular for its variety of small plates and buzzy ambiance, the special three-course lunch menu ($35, served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.) includes appetizers such as truffled grilled cheese with Brie and mango-saffron preserve, main plates that include a butter chicken bowl with basmati rice and cucumber salad and desserts that include soft-serve kulfi made with jackfruit grown at Naga Gardens farm in Loxahatchee Groves.

At dinner, Stage offers a pasta and wine special ($49, from 5 to 9 p.m.) that pairs a featured noodle dish with a glass of Brunello di Montalcino. Pastas include a pappardelle tossed with roasted garlic and mushrooms from Loxahatchee’s Gratitude Garden Farm and a wagyu beef pappardelle with truffles, tomato and Parmigiano Reggiano.

At Marathe’s more classically Indian restaurant Ela Curry Kitchen, the September-special lunch is served in three courses ($25, served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.) and offers a variety of menu favorites.

Stage Kitchen is at 2000 PGA Blvd., Palm Beach Gardens, 561-408-3685.

Ela Curry Kitchen is at 4650 Donald Ross Rd., Palm Beach Gardens, 561-345-2196.

Have a delicious Labor Day weekend!
