Slightly annoyed by this move, Peter declares war, forcing the duo to try to outwit each other. The film, based on the novel of the same name by Robert Kimmel Smith, is a recipe for laughter, promising a wholesome grandparent-grandchild movie time.

2. Nine Lives

If your family is full of animal lovers, this film is a must-watch for a wholesome grandparent-grandchild movie time. The film follows the life of Tom (played by Kevin Spacey), a businessman who loves his family but has no time for them. Due to an accident, he finds himself trapped in a cat’s body. Tom must now realise his mistakes to return to his normal self, or he will remain a cat forever!

3. The Sound of Music

Grandparents can relive the good old days with their grandchildren with this musical. The movie shows a young aspiring nun being sent by her convent in 1930s Austria to become a governess to the seven children of a widowed naval officer. How her cheerful and loving nature wins everyone’s heart forms the rest of the story. If you want to introduce your grandkids to classic cinema, this film should be your first choice.

4. Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory

You should watch this 1971 classic, “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory,” with your grandchild if you want them to learn about hope and determination. If you want to see a more modern version of this tale, then you can consider watching “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” (2005) or “Wonka” (2023) for a wholesome grandparent-grandchild movie time. All these movies are based on Roald Dahl’s 1964 novel “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.”

5. Dolphin Tale

“Dolphin Tale” is a story of hope and dreams, making it a must-watch for a wholesome grandparent-grandchild movie night. The story is inspired by the remarkable true story of a courageous dolphin named Winter and the compassionate people who came together to save her life. And don’t forget to watch the second part of the film where Winter meets Hope.

6. A Dog’s Journey

Another heart-touching movie with an animal as one of the lead characters that will leave everyone in joyful tears is “A Dog’s Journey.” The film shows the true meaning of a promise. It revolves around Bailey, a mixed breed, who promises to protect his master’s granddaughter, CJ. To fulfill his promise, Bailey reincarnates four times and stays by CJ’s side through thick and thin.

7. Night at the Museum

Be ready for a fun ride with this evergreen movie. The story shows Larry, a night security guard at the Museum of Natural History, and his exhibit friends, who come alive at night and foil a robbery attempt.

The characters of this fantasy comedy film promise a wholesome grandparent-grandchild movie time. While at it, watch the other movies from this franchise, like “Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian” and “Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb.”
