Who has the best pizza, New Jersey or Connecticut? Murphy throws shade at fellow governor
Fresh off his "We're from Jersey and you're not" viral Tik Tok moment, Gov. Phil Murphy on Wednesday took on the Nutmeg State ... over pizza.
Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont posted on social media about his state's new highway signs greeting travelers and promoting its excellence in basketball, foods, submarines and, of course, pizza.
"These updated signs reflect our state pride, showcasing some of the best of what we do in Connecticut. They're a fun way to greet visitors entering our state," Lamont tweeted.
It was the sign boasting "Welcome to Connecticut - Home of the Pizza Capital of the United States" that drew Murphy's tongue-in-cheek ire.

"You’re not even the pizza capital of the tri-state area," Murphy responded on X, formerly Twitter, to his fellow Democrat.
New Jersey's snarky @NJGov piled on with a tweet: "who’s gonna tell them april fools was in april…"
And you can be sure X users from both states didn't hold back on either of the governers.
"No potholes were harmed in the making of these signs… or fixed, either," wrote one user.
"Omg what’s next? They claim the Taylor ham egg and cheese?" tweeted another.
"Little brother arguing with our wealthy cousin," joked another.
"Hey Phil worry about NJ Transit not pizza," reponded a commuter.
While many showed some Jersey pizza pride, others did not have Murphy's back in the pizza debate.
"This Jersey girl loves her home state pizza, but New Haven pizza is the prize," one wrote.
"Hey Phil, I love everything Jersey, but New Haven, CT pizza is special. Let’s sit this one out, buddy," posted another.
"Hahaha! Thats funny. But I’m not leaving NY to get pizza in Jersey either," joked a New Yorker.
