Upon walking into Miki's Karaoke Bar, the neon letters offer a sign of what this place is about: "Let's eat. Let's drink. Let's sing."

Miki's Karaoke Bar opened in October at 2230 Frankfort Ave., taking over the 3,000-square-foot former space of Jake and Elwood's.

Most days, you'll find owner Mikyong Miller behind the counter. Miller, who grew up in South Korea and has lived in Louisville since 1996, has worked in the food and beverage industry for more than 20 years, the Courier Journal previously reported. Opening Miki's, named after Miller's nickname, has been a longtime dream.

Miller put together a fast-casual menu of Korean favorites such as mandu (deep-fried dumplings), pajeon (seafood and vegetable pancakes), edamame, and seasoned sweet and spicy chicken wings.

On the entree side, you'll find mild and spicy ramen, fried rice dishes with your choice of toppings, and a section for K-Cupbop, or Korean food in a cup. The cups come with a generous collection of rice, sweet potato starch noodles, lettuce, bean sprouts, mushrooms, carrots and an egg to be mixed with proteins such as spam and tofu or Korean spicy barbecue pork, along with your choice of sauces, such as Teriyaki sauce, Yum Yum sauce or Miki's Special Sauce.

Prices are reasonable, ranging from $7 for a starter to $15 for a K-Cupbop with Korean barbecue beef.

The extensive drink menu features wine, beer, soju, nigori sake. Specialty cocktails include a lemon drop martini, espresso martini, and a Red Bull Kentucky Sunrise, made with Four Roses bourbon, Red Bull yellow edition, and lime.

The star of the bar is a stage for karaoke, which is available at all times when Miki's is open. Miki's also has plenty of seating, a room with a pool table, and an outdoor back patio.
