The project seeks to harness the narratives of Indic heritage within digital interactive entertainment, with plans to expand into films, TV series and merchandise. Tripathi, known for his “Shiva Trilogy” and “Ram Chandra series,” will lead narrative development, while Abboud, whose credits include “Ghost Recon Wildlands,” brings 20 years of gaming industry experience to the table, including with Ubisoft.

Former Indian politician Jayant Sinha rounds out the founding team, contributing business expertise. Tulsea, a Mumbai-based talent agency, is partnering to advise on talent acquisition and strategic relationships. Former McKinsey consultant and technology entrepreneur Sumit Jamuar serves as a board advisor.

The company has already assembled a team of 100 developers across global offices in Paris, Montreal, and soon Mumbai and the Middle East. Tara Gaming aims to fill what it sees as a gap in AAA gaming landscapes that spotlight Indic heritage, capitalizing on India’s rapidly expanding economy and the growing digital entertainment industry.

Tripathi said: “Gaming at its core is not just about the play but is also deep storytelling. It is even bigger than the movies. And there is no better medium to explore storytelling than in the wonderful world of ancient India.”

Sinha said: “‘Bharatvarsha’ will be an incredible cultural universe for all to discover. Our characters are compelling, the narrative depth is unique, and we have assembled a first class technology team to be able to make this a reality.”

Tulsea CEO Datta Dave added: ‘Bharatvarsha’ will not only showcase the mainstream potential of Indian stories in video games but also serve as a gateway to the nation’s rich mythology for a global audience.”
