Bethenny Frankel is not letting go of her “giraffe shoes.” The “Real Housewives of New York” star attended L’Oreal Paris’s Women of Worth event in Hollywood on Thursday night. The event is in its 19th year. For it, Frankel showed she was worth it in an all black look featuring gold accents.
She wore a long black dress with a lowcut neck and thigh-high slit in the front. She paired it with gold accessories including bracelets a necklace and earrings. She even chose golden makeup.
Frankel continued the color palette down to her shoes. She wore a pair of black and gold strappy wedges. The straps of the shoes were made of suede. They featured a black strap across the ball of the foot as well as a black ankle strap. The shoe’s thick platform gold platform is also visible. In some images it appears that the shoe’s sole and platform are two tone with a gold footbed and black platform. In reality, it is all gold: as the red carpet is black, the platform reflects the color back in some photos.
The shoe is Balmain’s black suede wedge with a metallic platform and zipper up the back. The heel measures just over five inches.
Frankel calls her platform heels “giraffe shoes.” She began using the label publicly earlier this year. Back in September, she walked in the L’Oreal Paris fashion show and wore a pair of tall satin platform heels. They were from Versace and featured a chunky block heel as well as the Medusa medallion on the back. Like the styles she wore for the Women of worth event, they also included an ankle strap.
On social media, Frankel was criticized for her walk. She responded to those critics saying that she had to walk that way because of the shoes she chose. When someone commented “That walk — what the …” she responded in a video posted to Instagram.
“I’m gonna tell you ‘what the,'” she said. “I chose those shoes. L’Oréal said, ‘You can pick anything you want’ and I chose those shoes because I wanted to be like a giraffe with elongated legs. Like one of those long-legged creatures that walks a runway and looks like they’re not even the same species. And I loved it.”
Since then, she’s been referring to platform heel styles, which not only provide height but elongate the leg, as “giraffe shoes.”
