Beyoncé Reflects On The Success And Criticism Of ‘RENAISSANCE’ Film
Nearly a week after the global premiere of Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé — and a series of praised reviews and harsh criticism — the 42-year-old superstar has broken her silence.
She took to Instagram on Wednesday (Dec. 6) to share a recap from both the domestic and international premieres of the documentary, and express her gratitude on all the love she’s received regarding the film.
“I am so deeply thankful to AMC and every team member who worked so hard on this film. I just can’t thank all of you enough for your support,” Bey began. She explained that the RENAISSANCE film was “one of the hardest things” she’s ever done because of how swift the turnaround was.
“I practically slept in the edit, color, and mix sessions. The race against time continued in order to get this film out so quickly. But it was so worth all the grind,” noted the mother of three.
She later expressed how she’s “overwhelmed by the outpouring of love from my Hive” and “so touched and encouraged by the incredible reviews!!!”
The Houston native even joked that seeing everyone continue to dress in their “most opulent lewks” and keep the #MuteChallenge alive is “cracking [her] up.”
Bey indirectly addressed some criticism on the film when stating, “I also love seeing the positive take aways from people who were not my fans or didn’t yet know my story. The people who had no interest in seeing my shows who have now gained a deeper understanding and respect for all it takes to be a RENAISSANCE woman.”
She did confirm that Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé debuted on World AIDS Day, in honor of her late Uncle Johnny. Bey concluded her sentiments on the film by adding, “While I’m often critical and feel my art is never finished, the pendulum swings. I feel gratitude. We did it. We have the #1 movie in the country! And a 100 on Rotten Tomatoes. And it’s because of you and your support! I humbly thank you.”
Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé is currently playing in theaters.
