Beyoncé and Solange Talk Family, Sisterhood in New Interview
Beyoncé interviewed her little sister, Solange, for the February issue of Interview magazine. The sisters were very open and talked about everything from their hometown to their family to their childhood. In terms of their hometown, Beyoncé said, “I am so glad we grew up in Houston. And I know that it’s such a big inspiration for all of us: you, my mom, my dad.” Solange also commented on their hometown, saying, “I feel so happy that I got to grow up in a place where you could be the pastor’s wife, you could be a lawyer, you could be a stripper on the side.”
They also talked about their childhood. Solange said, “You and I were raised being told not to take the first thing that came our way, to build our own platforms…” Beyoncé always knew that Solange was talented, thinking, “My little sister is going to be something super special,” when they were younger. Solange was also inspired by Beyoncé, saying, “One thing that I constantly have to fight against is not feeling arrogant when I say I wrote every lyric on this album. It’s something I’ve learned so much about from you, getting to be in charge of your own narrative.”
Beyoncé clearly admires her sister, calling Solange’s 2014 wedding photo the dopest of all time. She also said that her proudest sister moment was introducing Solange to her hero, Nas. And when Beyoncé asked how she was as a big sister, Solange said that she did a “kick-ass job!”
