'BH90210' Star Ian Ziering's Wife Files To Get Custody Of The Couple's Children

Ian Ziering may have a custody battle on his hands after the 'BH90210' star's wife filed divorce documents asking for full physical custody of the couple's children.

According to legal documents, obtained by The Blast, Ian's wife Erin Ludwig filed for divorce this week and is a judge to order physical custody of the couples kids to her and to only allow Ian visitation.

The couple shares two daughters Mia, 8 and Penna, 6.

In the filing, Erin is asking for joint legal custody of the children. This is to allow Ian to have equal say in medical issues and things like schooling.

Ian has not yet responded to the divorce, so it is unclear if he will go along with Erin's requests or fight for 50/50 custody.

According to the documents, Ludwig is asking for spousal support and wants a judge to deny Ian any such payments.

Actor Announces The Couple's Split

The actor announced the couple's split on Thursday, October 31, 2019, and posted a statement on social media.

“It is with a heavy heart that I tell you Erin and I are splitting up,” he wrote. “With our hectic work schedules we could not be busier, and over the last few years have grown apart. She is one of the most incredible women I have ever met and the best mom to our kids," he said.

Interestingly, he also stated that he and Ludwig are intending to “get along, protect and raise our daughters, and be examples of successful co-parents.”

That raises the obvious question of whether the statement was just for the media or if he is fine with the arrangement of custody. Ludwig who married the 'Sharknado' star 2010, also released her own statement to the public on Instagram, saying, “After 9 1/2 years of marriage Ian asked for a divorce."

She continued, “After having asked multiple times I knew it was time to give up. Knowing that I am not the person to make him happy makes the situation feel more peaceful.”

Ludwig seemed to hint at the custody issue by saying the kids were with her, “The girls and I are doing great and finding gratitude and love in our new life together and rebuilding. Thank you to everyone who has been reaching out and I am sorry if I do not get a chance to respond right now. I appreciate your love and the sisterhood of women who surrounds me during this time," she ended.

Fans Advise Her To Move ON!

Fans are showing support to Ian's wife on social media and sending well wishes to the couple. Some are even questioning the split after the couple lived a very happy "Instagram" life.

"Wow, really surprised by your announcement because your life seemed so perfect on Instagram! All my best wishes!" one person commented.

Another advised Ludwig to move on and not look back, "Thank you, next!! My heart goes out to you. My divorce was final a few weeks ago and my ex got engaged to his gf the next day. Fun stuff!" the fan said.

Ian, who played Steve Sanders on '90210' has enjoyed a newfound fame in recent months after the famous 'Beverly Hills 90210' series was rebooted using several of the popular characters from the 90's.

No Cheating Involved...

Ian Ziering's character in the new BH90210 deals with infidelity in his character's storyline. The actor was asked about it, he and his wife are "very committed."

In the new version of the show's series premiere, his character, finds out that his wife is cheating on him.

In an interview, the TV star told Us Weekly, “It has no relation to my current [relationship].”

He made it clear, “You know, I was married once before. So let’s leave it there. It’s not my current situation. “My wife was concerned that people were going to think that she was the one running around, and it’s pretty clear that she’s not,” the producer told Us. “I mean Erin is very prolific on Instagram. She has a social media marketing empire of her own. We’re very committed. We’ve got two kids, so it’s obviously not her.”
