With the summer tourist season at its peak, beach music promoters are bringing out the heavy hitters. Thousands of fans will have the opportunity to enjoy major headliners at area concert venues in the days ahead.
See son of Allman Brothers Band legend in Lewes at Rocking the Docks
In Lewes, the annual Rocking the Docks concert series has been going strong each week. It takes place outside on the grounds of the Cape May-Lewes Ferry.
Duane Betts & Palmetto Motel will headline Thursday, July 11 ($35). Guitar virtuoso Betts is the son of the late, great Dickie Betts of the Allman Brothers Band (who passed away April 18 after battling cancer). The gates will open at 5:30 p.m., with local favorite The Fitzkee Brothers opening the show at 6 p.m.

Tickets remain for one Justin Moore show in Dewey Beach
In Dewey Beach, the 1,200-capacity Bottle & Cork nightclub will host a two-nighter by country star Justin Moore this week. At last count, 96 tickets remained for Moore’s first show at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, July 11 ($69). The followup show on Friday, July 12 has sold out in advance.
The Cork will welcome singer-songwriter George Birge on Sunday, July 14 ($20). Birge was formerly one-half of the duo Waterloo Revival, with whom he played the Cork’s sister business, the Rusty Rudder, back in 2016.
The Eli Young Band will return Tuesday, July 16 ($35). The Cork’s doors open at 8 p.m. on all concert nights, with music starting at about 8:30 p.m.

Freeman stage heats up with New Orleans' Trombone Shorty and more
In Selbyville, the outdoor Freeman Arts Pavilion has what may be the biggest and brightest stretch of shows of its Sounds Like Summer concert series on the horizon. Jam band The Disco Biscuits will take the stage at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 11 ($50). Rain: A Tribute to The Beatles is set for 7 p.m., Friday, July 12 ($50). Alternative-pop fivesome Fitz & the Tantrums will perform at 7 p.m., Sunday, July 14 ($56).
At 7 p.m., Monday, July 15, Freeman will present the return of Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue ($74, $97). Hard-rock act Night Ranger will play its radio hits such as “Sister Christian” at 7 p.m., Tuesday, July 16 ($50).

Ocean City's Seacrets cooks with Michael Franti & Spearhead, G. Love
In Ocean City, the annual summer concert series at Seacrets will also be packing them in with some long-awaited events on the outdoor beach stage that are sure to please the masses. Michael Franti & Spearhead will play a sold-out show at 6 p.m., Monday, July 15. (This is hot on the heels of Franti’s soldout appearance at the Freeman Arts Pavilion on June 27).
Philly favorite G. Love & Special Sauce will bring its 30th anniversary tour to Seacrets on Wednesday, July 17, after a 6:30 p.m. opening set by Mihali ($30). This one is “will call only,” so attendees must present their digital receipt to obtain their hard-copy ticket. Singer-guitarist G. Love was one of the highlights of last year’s massive Oceans Calling festival at the Inlet; in addition to his own set, he participated in a jam session tribute to Run DMC (that featured rapper DMC himself).
