Big Sean Puts On His “Drake Face” Amid ‘Better Me Than You’ Album Release

Big Sean channels his inner Drake as he drops his latest album, but not musically. The Detroit rapper took to Instagram Live to celebrate the release of Better You Than Me and in the process did his best at recreating the Toronto rapper’s pout.

“I’m gonna do the Drake face,” laughed the 36-year-old in a clip of the livestream captured and shared by the NFR Podcast. He continued to laugh, “I’m just talking sh*t.”

On Thursday (Aug 29), Drake himself poked fun at his selfie signature, attributing inspiration for the poked-out lips and side eye to Duke Dennis, Joe Budden, and others by sharing multiple images in an Instagram carousel.

Big Sean’s fun comes with the drop of Better You Than Me, his first full-length project in four years. The Grammy-nominated musician has used social media heavily in promotion of the anticipated work, creating content with influencer Jordan Howlett and frequently addressing fans and explaining album delays through live sessions.

On Monday (Aug. 26), he used one of these moments to emotionally share the intense work behind the process of reaching release day.

“I’ve been having a hard time lately, straight up. It has not been easy,” he shared. “You make art, you put your heart into this sh*t,” he added before confirming a COVID-19 diagnosis. He continued to explain how his mother encouraged him to move forward.

“She was giving me them words,” the father of one elaborated. “And I was just like, look, I can keep working on some sh*t and make it exactly how I wanted. But I’d be pushing it back forever.”

Big Sean’s Better Me Than You features Charlie Wilson, Kodak Black, Bryson Tiller, Teyana Taylor, Cash Cobain, Larry June, Gunna, Syd, DJ Premier, NASAAN, and more across 21 tracks. Take a listen below.
