Big weekend ahead: Books, disc golf, live music and road trip to Albany
There is no shortage of things to do this weekend in Abilene.
Monday is a holiday for many in the city, as Juneteenth will be observed. Three days of events are planned at Stevenson Park, which has become the hub of activity for the almost-summer celebration.

Here's a look at what's going on.
It's time to Fandangle
ALBANY - For the 85th year, the outdoor summer musical drama will be presented at the Prairie Theatre.
More than 250local performers will participate in the retelling of the settlement of Shackelford County.
The event is held over two weekends, with the annual parade at 5 p.m. Saturday.
Performances begin at 8:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and the same time June 23-24.
Ticket prices vary as to section, but start at $20. Online orders include a processing fee.
A second focus on literacy
A week after attention was paid to kids and books, Friends of the Abilene Public Library presents its annual prime fund-raising book sale over three days at the Abilene Convention Center.
There are books for all ages and interests.
The member sale is scheduled for 5-8 p.m. Thursday. The public sales begins at 10 a.m. Friday, going until 7 p.m.
Saturday's sale is 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
The Bag-O-Books sale is 1-4 p.m. Sunday, when visitors can fill a bag with leftover books for one low price.
For sales are books of all subjects, from romance to history. There is a children's area, compact discs and audiobooks for sale. Books are priced for hardbacks and paperbacks.
There is no admission charge.
Jamming in Potosi
The Summer Jam now is a two-day event at Potosi Live, 897 FM 1750, southeast of Abilene.
On Thursday, it's Giovannie and the Hired Guns, with Them Dirty Roses and the Mike Stanley Band.
The Friday night show starring Clint Black has been cancelled, according to the Potosi Live website.
On Saturday, it's Wade Bowen, with Josh Weathers and Della Rose up first.
This is an all-ages show. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. each day.

Got a wild hair for disc golf?
The 20th annual Abilene Wild Hair will be staged at Cal Young Park in southeast Abilene and, of course, Will Hair Park on the north side.
Three rounds of 18 holes will be played over two days - Friday and Saturday.
Divisions include open ($75 entry fee), advanced ($65), intermediate ($55) and recreation/juniors ($5).

Time for a neighborhood parade
The final two days of the Parade of Homes are 1-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Seventeen homes are listed for the Abilene, Jim Ned and Wylie school districts. Go to paradehouses.com to see images of homes and addresses.
The even is organized by Big Country Home Builders Association.
There is no cost to visit homes.
