‘The Bikeriders’ Is the 'Dudes Rock' Movie of the Summer

REV UP YOUR engines, and get ready for the wild ride that director Jeff Nichols's highly anticipated film The Bikeriders is going to take you on. The film stars some of Hollywood's biggest names, including Austin Butler, Jodie Comer, Tom Hardy, and Mike Faist. Butler, who was recently seen in Dune: Part Two, continues to bring a throwback, rebellious energy to the screen as he plays the lead role of Benny.
With a star-studded cast, it's no real secret that this action-packed film (one that comes with tense street fights and Tom Hardy blowing up a bar—yes, you read that right), could very well be the "cool guy" movie of the summer.
The Bikeriders is inspired by photojournalist Danny Lyon’s (played by Faist in the film) photography book, in which he immersed himself within Chicago’s most notorious motorcycle clubs. Lyon's work focused on the specific club known as the Chicago Outlaws and captured it in all of its glory. Nichols then took Lyon's work, crafting an exciting fictional narrative for the screen.

The film follows a woman named Kathy (Jodie Comer), who speaks with Lyon as she recounts the years she spent with Benny (Austin Butler), one of the most magnetic, and ultimately aggressive, members of the motorcycle club that called themselves The Vandals. The movie ultimately delves into the lifestyle choices both had to make between their relationship and the motorcycle group. The Vandals are led by Johnny (Tom Hardy) and are brought into a world of violence and danger as the club's power grows and rivalries become as a result.
Other notable cast members in the film include Michael Shannon, a frequent collaborator with the director, Norman Reedus from The Walking Dead, and Boyd Holbrook, who audiences may have seen last year in both Justified: City Primeval and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.
