Billboard Latin Women in Music 2024 Special on Telemundo Delivers Record-Breaking Engagement
The second annual Billboard Latin Women in Music special delivered record-breaking engagement, reports Telemundo, where the two-hour show aired on Sunday (June 9). Marking a +541% increase over the 2023 show with 61 million engagements across television, digital, Peacock and social, the 2024 edition garnered a total of 109.6 million video minutes watched, a +20% increase versus 2023.
Telemundo’s airing of the gala ranked as the most watched show on Spanish-language television in its 9-11 p.m. time slot, delivering an average of 192,000 adults 18-49 and 897,000 total viewers, according to Nielsen. Overall, the show outperformed Univision by +43% among adults 18-49 and +65% among total viewers. In addition, the linear broadcast reached 1.5 million total viewers, a +14% increase versus the prior year.

This year, Karol G was celebrated as Woman of the Year; Gloria Estefan received the Legend award; Camila Cabello the Global Impact award; Ana Bárbara the Lifetime Achievement award; ángela Aguilar the Musical Dynasty award; Kali Uchis the Rising Star award; Kany García the Spirit of Change award; and La India the Pioneer award.
A night of celebration, honorees Ana Bárbara, Uchis, Aguilar, García and La India delivered show-stopping performances that showcased excellence in their craft. Meanwhile, Estefan was honored by Elena Rose, Gale and Juliana, who performed a riveting rendition of “Mi Tierra.”
The Woman of the Year, who delivered her speech via a video since she’s currently on tour in Europe, expressed gratitude toward all the women who not only are part of her team but those that have collaborated with her and the ones that stream her music. “This only makes me want to keep working very hard. The No. 1 thing I have on my bucket list is to keep inspiring people around the world. I will be giving my best every day, working, studying, preparing myself to continue bringing a little bit of light,” she said.
Billboard’s Latin Women in Music franchise recognizes the importance of Latin women in the music industry, and honors those who have positively impacted Latin music and the industry the previous year. It also which celebrates Latin female artists who are proactively working for positive change, inclusion and gender parity in the industry.
