Billy Joel Issues an Unexpected Response as Taylor Swift Breaks Record Previously Held by Him
As one of the most successful musical artists in history, Billy Joel knows a thing or two about breaking records—and he's thrilled for the next generation to follow in his footsteps.
The 75-year-old star took to Instagram on Monday, Oct. 21, to share two photos from Taylor Swift's Eras Tour show at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, which he attended with his wife Alexis Roderick and his two younger daughters, Della Rose, 9, and Remy Anne, 6.
In the first pic, Joel, Roderick, and their girls flashed smiles at the camera from their seats alongside Swift's mom, Andrea. In the second, the family posed with Swift backstage, with Joel wearing a black t-shirt that read "It's me, hi. I'm the dad. It's me."

In his caption, Joel revealed that Swift broke a record previously held by himself at her Miami concert, praising her for the accomplishment.
"Our family attended the Taylor Swift concert at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami where Billy Joel/Elton John’s ‘Face to Face’ concert previously held the seating record," Joel wrote. "Taylor’s second concert at Hard Rock Miami set a new record and ushered in a new era at Hard Rock Stadium. We were so happy to be a part of this record-breaking concert! Plus, we got to celebrate with her mama?? Celebrating someone’s success does not negate your own. She is showing our girls all that is possible. Onward and upward #swifties" he added.
