Billy Miller Remembered by Y&R’s Amelia Heinle in Touching Tribute
Two weeks after the world lost soap vet Billy Miller, his former on-screen missus is paying tribute.
Miller died on Sept. 15, at age 43, following a lengthy battle with bipolar disorder. On Saturday, The Young and the Restless‘ Amelia Heinle, whose Victoria Newman was once married to Miller’s Billy Abbott, posted a photo of a young Miller on Instagram, along with a childhood memory he shared with her the same year their characters wed on the CBS soap.

“My favorite thing growing up was hiding out from the rain in our little barn with a tin roof on it,” he told her. “It’s still my favorite sound. Listening to it coming down and the way it gave me peace.”
Miller made his daytime-TV debut in 2007 when he joined the cast of All My Children as Richie Novak. A two-year stint on the ABC soap paved the way for his breakout role as Y&R‘s Billy Abbott. Though the fourth actor to play that role, Miller unarguably made it his own, collecting two Daytime Emmys for Outstanding Supporting Actor and one for Outstanding Lead Actor.
In 2014, Miller jumped to General Hospital, where he took over the role of Jason Morgan/Drew Cain from Steve Burton; he left that ABC soap in 2019.
Y&R previously paid tribute to Miller. The Sept. 21 episode of the long-running serial ended with a small, smile-filled “In Loving Memory” montage of Miller’s run as Billy, closing with a black-and-white still and “1979-2023.” (Watch the segment here.)
