While the series finale followed a few TV tropes — like the characters reminiscing in an empty space — it continued to celebrate and introduce Black culture. For example, the episode ended with the Johnsons, along with the whole neighborhood, having a New Orleans jazz funeral for their old house. Everyone danced and paraded down the street in a celebration of life.
After the show aired, the official Twitter handle sent out a message to the emotional fans.
Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened. ?? The magic we felt from #blackish will remain for a lifetime. ? Here’s to new beginnings and thank you for being a part of the journey. ???? pic.twitter.com/iUGEgW8mFC
