Blackpink’s Lisa Makes a Dramatic Arrival to MTV VMAs 2024 Red Carpet in Theatrical Mugler Dress With Veil Detail
Blackpink’s Lisa opted for a dramatic wardrobe choice for the 2024 MTV VMAs on Wednesday in New York City. The singer and rapper made her first solo appearance on the red carpet of the music industry awards show, favoring a theatrical look.
For the evening’s festivities, Lisa opted for a custom Mugler design, which featured a corseted bodice with semi-exposed boning, fabric draping and a veil. The Blackpink singer’s look also included shimmering detail at the top of the bodice. “I wanted something timeless and classic,” Lisa told MTV.

The floor-length dress also featured long sleeves, which extended to Lisa’s finger tips. The final touch of the sartorial statement was a veil that framed Lisa’s face. The Bulgari global ambassador accessorized the look with a glittering necklace with serpenti inspiration and a statement ring.
Lisa wore her hair down with fringe to frame her face. Her makeup featured a clean, natural look with a hint of a smokey eye. Lisa’s single “Rockstar” is nominated for Best K-pop Song, Best Editing, Best Art Direction, and Best Choreography at the 2024 MTV VMAs.
Along with her flourishing music career, Lisa achieved a major milestone in the world of fashion. Born Lalisa Manobal, the Thai singer was named a brand ambassador to Louis Vuitton in July 2024.
“Nicolas Ghesquière’s identity is strongly reflected in the designs that he creates and that is what makes Louis Vuitton pieces so special,” the singer said. “I’m very excited to see how his ideas come to life.”
Ghesquière, the creative director of the French luxury fashion house, echoed Lisa’s enthusiasm. “I am very excited to welcome Lisa as a house ambassador. She has a daring spirit and charisma that I find incredibly compelling,” he said.
The MTV VMAs recognize the year’s best music videos, artists and songs. Megan Thee Stallion makes her hosting debut during the 2024 ceremony, held at the UBS Stadium in Elmont, New York on Sept. 11. Katy Perry will receive the honorary Video Vanguard Award, while performers include Sabrina Carpenter, Lenny Kravitz, Eminem and Karol G.
