Blake Lively Reportedly “Felt Very Out of Control” of the ‘It Ends With Us’ Drama
According to a new report, Blake Lively was caught off guard by all the negative attention she received amid the premiere of her latest film, It Ends With Us. Per a source who spoke to People, the actor was “pretty surprised at the backlash and drama” caused by rumors of apparent tension between Blake and her director/costar Justin Baldoni.
“She initially felt very vulnerable and upset. During the promotion of the movie, not one day went by when she was not in the news in an unfavorable light. She’s just not used to this kind of drama,” the insider added.
According to the person close to the sitch, the entire ordeal apparently “felt out of control to her.” Despite it all, though, the Gossip Girl alum, “enjoys working and will continue to push forward projects that she's excited about.” Good! To! Know!!!
Btw, here’s a quick refresher on all the It Ends With Us drama for those of you who don’t remember every single detail (can’t relate): Fans almost instantly began spiraling about the ‘ship between Blake and Justin due to the director doing almost no press with the rest of the cast. On top of that, most of his costars appeared to have unfollowed him on Instagram in the wake of its release. So yeah, obviously TikTok (and the world at large) was out here doing this:
Amid all the speculation, an Us Weekly source dropped some seriously ?? intel re: Blake and Justin’s on-set dynamic and revealed, “There were two camps on the film—team Blake and team Justin. This creative struggle set the tone for the negative experience behind the scenes and grew into them not speaking anymore.”
The insider then dished that Justin felt “hurt and sidelined” by Blake due to the fact that she allegedly made changes to her wardrobe *and* the script “often without consulting Justin or his team.” And speaking of the script...production sources reportedly told TMZ that the A Simple Favor star allegedly hired her own editor and had her husband Ryan Reynolds do “last-minute rewrites on the script”—a move you can read all about right...
At the time, the Hollywood Reporter also came through with additional source reporting on what actually went down. According to people who spoke to the outlet, “there was a fracture among the filmmakers in the post-production process, wherein two different cuts of the movie emerged.”
Apparently, Blake “commissioned a cut of the movie from editor Shane Reid,” an editor on Deadpool & Wolverine who *also* edited Taylor Swift’s “I Bet You Think About Me” video...which Blake directed.
According to the outlet, it was “unclear” whether any of this cut was used in the final film. How-ev-er!!! “One insider played down any friction” because it’s “not uncommon” for a movie to have several cuts “emerge during post” and ultimately, everyone was in “agreement” on the final version of It Ends With Us ˉ\_(ツ)_/ˉ.
In the end, despite all this ^^ drama, the film legit blew up at the box office, pulling in more than $100 million by August 16, 2024. Now, according to our math *pulls out calculator* this means that figure should be well over that total roughly a month later. Guess all press is good press?
