Blake Lively’s sister, ‘Teen Witch’ star Robyn Lively, jumps to her defense amid ‘It Ends with Us’ drama
This sisterhood can’t be broken.
Robyn Lively supported her younger sister Blake Lively amid reports of drama among the cast of “It Ends with Us.”
The “Teen Witch” star posted a sweet birthday tribute to Instagram for the 37-year-old, writing, “That’s my bday queen right there! I love this girl, my sister, my best friend, my little piggy back buddy! You are one of the best humans I know. HAPPY birthday sissy britches!”
Beneath the picture, one fan commented, “Blake is a lovely human being! I hope she knows that the multitudes of people who love her is so much greater than the negative voices. Happy Birthday Blake!!”
Robyn wrote back, “Thank you for this.”
Blake and Robyn are both the daughters of talent manager Elaine Lively.
Since Colleen Hoover’s best-selling novel hit the big screen, rumors of alleged creative differences between Blake and the film’s director and leading man, Justin Baldoni, have surfaced.
“All is not what it seems,” a set source told People earlier this month. “There is much more to this story. The principal cast and [author] Colleen Hoover will have nothing to do with him.”
Blake has continued to do press with her cast members, including Isabela Ferrer, Brandon Sklenar and Jenny Slate — but not with Justin.
In fact, the co-stars even watched the film in different movie theaters at the New York premiere on Aug. 6.
The “Shallows” actress took her guests into one theater while the “Jane the Virgin” alum and his friends and family watched in another.
Meanwhile, the cast only follows Blake on social media, and Justin has hired crisis public relations manager Melissa Nathan.
Following the “Hollywood Reporter” detailing there “was a fracture among the filmmakers in the postproduction process, where in two different cuts of the movie emerged,” a source close to Justin told People that the discord was due to “creative differences” that had been “overblown.”
The insider claimed that the “Gossip Girl” alum “wants to direct the next movie, sidelining him and securing the rights from Colleen.”
But since the drama has unfolded, Justin has made it clear that he won’t be returning to direct the sequel movie based on Colleen’s novel “It Starts with Us.”
“I think there are better people for that one,” he told “Entertainment Tonight” at the NYC premiere. “I think Blake Lively’s ready to direct, that’s what I think.”
Blake, who also served as a producer on the film, told BBC at the London premiere, “I really feel like we delivered a story that’s emotional and it’s fun, but also funny, painful, scary, tragic and it’s inspiring and that’s what life is, it’s every single color.”
But since the allegations of a feud have hit the public, the “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” actress has continued to receive backlash.
Blake has been criticized for failing to discuss the film’s domestic violence theme and instead promoting her new hair care line, Blake Brown Beauty, and her floral fashions.
Internet sleuths have also dug up old interviews of Blake’s.
In one instance, Blake repeatedly used a transgender slur during a conversation with Elle magazine in 2012. The now mother of four made remarks to the outlet while discussing her future children.
An X user posted an image of her quote: “I hope to have a few girls one day. If not girls, they better be trannies. Because I have some amazing shoes and bags and stories that need to be appreciated.”
The term “tranny” has been deemed defamatory by some members of the transgender community, as pointed out on GLAAD’s website.
Earlier this summer, ??a journalist slammed Blake over a 2016 interview that she called “the most uncomfortable interview situation I have ever experienced.”
Norwegian reporter Kjersti Flaa posted her four-minute interview on YouTube, titling the video “The Blake Lively interview that made me want to quit my job.”
“Sitting down with Blake Lively and her co-star Parker Posey for ‘Cafe Society’ (2016) is the most uncomfortable interview situation I have ever experienced,” she wrote in the video’s description.
The footage captured Blake’s snippy responses to interview questions, including when the reporter congratulated the then-pregnant actress on her baby bump.
But despite the backlash, the “A Simple Favor” alum has previously talked in length about her passion for the film.
“Colleen, she has such a dedicated fan base. [She was] self-published initially, so this is somebody who the fans really authored the success of your stories,” Blake told Entertainment Tonight in June. “She wrote stories that resonated with people and didn’t go to all the traditional means that people go to. She went directly to the people she was speaking to and they came forward in masses.”
“This story resonated with so many people, so there’s a great responsibility that comes with that,” she continued. “You want to honor this book and this character that people love so much, but you also want to bring a life and a humanity to it that is true to who you are. It’s a lot of different things that you want to accomplish in this story.”
Blake gushed: “I’m just so proud of this film. I’m just so proud to be here and sharing it with Colleen and the fans. It’s just really special. It was a great honor to take on Lily, and I’m so proud.”
The actress was spotted for the first time amid the drama spending her 37th birthday alongside husband Ryan Reynolds at Taylor Swift’s $17 million Rhode Island mansion.
Swift’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce, his brother Jason Kelce and Jason’s wife, Kylie Kelce, Bradley Cooper, Gigi Hadid and Travis’ Kansas City Chiefs teammate Patrick Mahomes and wife Brittany Mahomes also made appearances over the weekend.
