Blake Lively Stuns in Britney Spears Versace Dress at ‘It Ends With Us’ Premiere
If there is one thing to love about Blake Lively, it’s her fashion choices. The Gossip Girl star has been inspiring girls and women since 2007 and she shows no signs of stopping now, especially after seeing her stunning dress from the ‘It Ends with Us’ premiere.
Lively showed up on the red carpet dressed in a bedazzled vintage Versace gown, which was previously worn by Britney Spears in 2002. Lively shared while at the premiere, “It is Britney's actual dress. It should be in the Smithsonian or the Met. But it's on me. I feel so lucky!”

The actress’ gown is a colorful, sequined, one-shoulder dress paired with shimmery heels to match. Lively also wore a set of stunning jewelry that matched the pastel look, soft pink makeup and, of course, her beloved golden locks. The star walked the carpet with her husband, Deadpool actor, Ryan Reynolds. He wore an olive green suit with a boutonniere, which is linked to Lively’s character, Lily Bloom.
Lively’s sparkling moment caught the eye of everyone. Not only were fans awed by the gorgeous look, but the designer of the dress, Donatella Versace, shared her appreciation for the actress bringing the dress back.
“@blakelively looking so incredible in a Versace dress many of you will remember…In 2002, Britney Spears sparkled in it when she visited me for a Versace show in Milan… Both women wear it with so much love and power ??”
Lively shared a story, commemorating Spears for being “The Ultimate Queen who made us all want to sparkle and write and share our stories.”
Lively’s method dressing isn’t a new technique
The It End’s with Us star has been sporting dozens of different floral looks in preparation for the movie’s premiere, all of which have stunned fans of the actress. But this isn’t the first time Lively dressed like a character.
In 2018, while promoting her film, A Simple Favor, Lively wore men’s suits on her public outings to get people talking. She explained this tactic saying, “I'm so excited method dressing is such a thing now because years ago when I did A Simple Favor, people were like, ‘Why are you dressing like your character? Why are you in suits?’… It's a marketing hack to try to get people to pay attention to our movie. And it worked.”

If you think you’re obsessed with Lively’s premiere dress, you are going to fall in love with her character’s wardrobe, which features a few special items. The actress confirmed in an interview that she wears a lot of her own pieces in the film, as well as some from her husband and her friend, Gigi Hadid.
“A lot of it’s my real-life clothes or my husband’s clothes or my girlfriend Gigi’s clothes. I was borrowing some… It’s like a wedding, like, something old, something borrowed, something blue or something new.”
While some fans were previously questioning the style of the Lily Bloom character in the early days of filming, Lively feels differently. There is always a reason behind the clothing choices for a character and Lively is certain that what was chosen for Lily Bloom was the right decision.
“I love Lily’s style so much. I think when you see the film, her style makes sense, because she’s a woman of multitudes. It’s storytelling. To me, fashion and costume design is storytelling.”
