Blanco Brown gears up for second USO tour, will 'Git Up' with the troops
Blanco Brown is taking his "git up" international, hitting the road for his second United Service Organization (USO) tour to perform for American military service members and their families overseas.
From Feb. 18 to Feb. 23, the country artist, producer, and rapper will be visiting several military bases in Poland where he will perform and do meet and greets with service members. This is Brown's second USO tour.
"I'm so excited to be going on this USO tour, to get back to the troops," Brown told The Tennessean. "I would love to do it every chance I get a free opening and can make it happen."
Last year in March, Brown embarked on his first USO tour as part of his 2023 tour to Rota, Spain. He performed aboard the USS George H.W. Bush aircraft carrier for 5,000 Navy sailors on a four-day tour.
"And it's been nothing but smiles," Brown said of the experience. "Laughter. It's bringing them joy. To give them a break."
He has some surprises in store for the soldiers on this tour, he said. "I'm gonna tailor some lyrics for the soldiers. I'm gonna put some USO and some good lil lyrics in my biggest song to date, 'The Git Up.' It should be fun. I can't wait to see the reaction."
The USO, a nonprofit organization, is dedicated to bolstering the well-being of American military members while they serve. Since 1941, they've worked to uplift service members through care packages, entertainment, youth programming and more.
"I always remember love," said of his time on the first USO tour. "I'm always spreading positive energy. And I receive it back, so it's reciprocated. It's a blessing! People have fun with me! The soldiers enjoy themselves."
Brown released his new single "Sunshine Shine" on Feb. 1 and is gearing up release a new EP called "Heartache and Lemonade" on April 5. Of course, Brown plans on playing some of his new tunes for the troops, saying he's ready to "test the waters."
"Music heals the world and I'm so ecstatic and excited to be a part of the healing process," Brown said. "Actually, just taking people's minds off of their circumstances or what they got to go through in his life."
"It's a blessing to see people smile."
