Blaze Wasn’t Jacqueline Grace Lopez’s First General Hospital Character
Jacqueline Grace Lopez may have said goodbye to General Hospital, but to some eagle-eyed viewers, she may be remembered as more than just Blaze.
Not Her First Rodeo
Lopez debuted the character of Blaze in 2022, starting out as Chase’s (Josh Swickard) duet partner and eventually becoming Brook Lynn’s (Amanda Setton) client and Kristina’s (Kate Mansi) girlfriend. Although the actress turned what she recalled as a 10-episode part into a two-year gig, it was far from the first time she had been in Port Charles.
Lopez’s first role on GH happened in 2015 when she appeared as Leo’s (Easton Rocket Sweda) unnamed babysitter. The actress was credited in the same role again in 2016.
A Common Theme
It’s not uncommon on GH for actors to play more than one role throughout their careers. Some memorable instances include Natalia Livingston playing Emily and later returning to play her twin sister Rebecca, and Michael Easton playing Caleb, John, Silas, and Finn over the course of more than 20 years.
Some actors are so well-known for their long-term characters that it can be easy to forget who they started out playing. Before Joshua Benard played Adam from 2022-2024, he debuted on GH as a younger version of Sonny (Maurice Benard, his real-life father) in 2018. While it’s hard to forget Chloe Lanier as Nelle, the actress started out playing a young Patricia in Luke’s (ex-Anthony Geary) flashbacks. Sean Blakemore is remembered as one of Sonny’s right-hand men, Shawn, but first played a con artist named Chase (not to be confused with Swickard’s Detective Chase), who dated Sam (Kelly Monaco, who also started out as Livvie on Port Charles before joining GH as Sam).
As for the many Carlys, two of the four actresses have returned as new characters over the years. Sarah Joy Brown, who originated the character of Carly in 1996, returned in 2008 as Claudia, while Tamara Braun played Carly from 2001-2005 and later played Kim from 2017-2019.
