January Jones: It’s No One’s Business Who My Son’s Dad Is
January Jones mantra in life? Mum's the word!
Nearly two years after giving birth to her son Xander, the unmarried "Mad Men" actress is still not willing to reveal who the 20-month-old boy's father is.
"That’s my son's business," she tells the New York Times in a new interview, adding, "It's not the public's business."
There has been much speculation about who Xander's dad could be, with rumors identifying everyone from her "X Men" director Matthew Vaughn (who is married to Claudia Schiffer), to her co-star in the superhero films, Michael Fassbender, and even her "Mad Men" ex-husband Jon Hamm.
But don't expect a revelation any time soon. Jones remains committed to keeping her off-screen life as private as possible.
"I'm not trying to sell myself. I wouldn't know how," she continues, adding that she's adhering to advice she received from a very famous friend.
"Jack Nicholson once told me: 'You should never give your personal life away, otherwise people will pick you apart. They'll never believe in your character.'"
Which means Jones also wasn't willing to address the rumors that she and "Hunger Games" actor Liam Hemsworth — who is engaged to Miley Cyrus — have been hooking up.
"Women should have lots of secrets," she says. "It's our right to have secrets. Otherwise, what would we write in our memoirs?"
While she remains tight-lipped about her romantic life, Jones did discuss her decision to try a controversial postpartum remedy — the actress ate her son's placenta — comparing the experience to "taking a vitamin blended into a smoothie," and offered a glimpse into what it's like to live with her.
"I'm almost O.C.D.," she reveals. "You will never find a piece of clothing on my floor. I can't relax if I'm sitting in a mess." Apparently, her penchant for tidiness has been adapted by Xander. "His first word was 'Mama,'" she says. "His second was 'back,' 'cause I [keep] saying, 'Put it back.'"
The 35-year old actress also doesn’t concern herself with naysayers. When her attempts to wear "something that's shocking" backfire and are picked apart by critics, Jones says she isn't fazed.
"Those people don't have degrees in fashion. Why would I care what they say?"
What do you think? Are you impressed with the actress's ability to ignore critics and questions about her personal life?
