Charlize Theron Adopts Baby Boy
The Hollywood Mom club has a brand new member. Charlize Theron announced on Wednesday that she has adopted a son. The Oscar winner "is the proud mom of a healthy baby boy named Jackson," her rep said in a statement. Theron, 36, joins the ranks of a slew of actresses who have adopted a child as a single mother, including Sandra Bullock, Connie Britton, and Kristin Davis.
Little Jackson — who was born in America and is of African-American descent — is the first child for the South African-born Theron, who is currently single following a nine-year relationship with actor Stuart Townsend, which ended in 2010. Although she has said marriage was not necessarily on her to-do list, being a mother has been. "I want a baby," she revealed last August. "If it would happen tomorrow I would be very happy." Hinting at her desire to adopt, Theron added, "There are so many unwanted children on this earth and it's our job to care for them. And if we don't, we're doing the world a disservice."

An insider told Us Weekly that the "Young Adult" actress has "always wanted to be a mom," and, in fact, was photographed snuggling a friend's baby on the set of "Snow White and the Huntsman." "She is glad to be able to do it on her own now," adds the source.
