Justin Bieber Charged With Vandalism for Egg-Gate

Update 3:30 p.m. PST: Justin Bieber was officially charged with misdemeanor vandalism in the egging incident on Wednesday afternoon. He pleaded no contest as part of a plea deal. Bieber was sentenced to two years of probation; court costs plus $80,900 in restitution; five days of community service; 12 weeks of anger management classes; and he must stay away from the victim and his family for two years. The Canadian star must also notify the court within 72 hours if he leaves the U.S. for any reason. His team issued the following statement: "Justin is glad to get this matter resolved and behind him. He will continue to move forward focusing on his career and his music."

Six months after the Canadian crooner allegedly egged his Calabasas, California, neighbor's home causing five figures' worth of damage, the 20-year-old is going to be charged with one count of misdemeanor vandalism for the crime.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office made the announcement on Wednesday and said that the "Baby" singer will be not be present for his arraignment later Wednesday at Los Angeles County Superior Court in Van Nuys.

This charge has been hanging over Bieber's head since January, when the incident took place — just prior to his Miami DUI arrest and Toronto assault arrest. The good news for the singer in this case is that he will not face a felony charge, which had been a possibility. He's now looking at penalties of up to one year in county jail if convicted and/or a maximum $1,000 fine.

That fine is chump change for the crooner, who recently landed on Forbes magazine's World’s Most Powerful Celebrities list with an estimated $80 million in earnings last year.

Bieber moved out of his Calabasas estate not long after egg-gate, which included a police raid of his house and led to the arrest of his pal Xavier "Lil Za" Smith on drug charges. In May, Smith pleaded no contest to felony charges of possessing ecstasy and was placed on probation and given community service.
