Blue Bloods Family Lines: The Real-Life Parents of the Cast
It’s no secret that the extended Reagan family is a close-knit crew. Led by Tom Selleck’s Frank Reagan, the Blue Bloods family is made up of four generations, but in real life, many of the show’s stars are mothers, fathers and grandparents in their own family bloodlines.
From Len Cariou to Bridget Moynahan, there are so many real-life Blue Bloods family bloodlines to examine. Take a look and see which stars of the hit drama have their own Blue Bloods family bloodlines.
Tom Selleck: Blue Bloods family bloodlines
Everyone knows and loves Tom Selleck for his expert portrayal of New York Police Commissioner Frank Reagan, who is also considered the head of his family. With children and grandchildren to share his wisdom with, Frank is a busy man.
But Selleck has his own family bloodline to worry about in real life! He has two children: his son, Kevin, whom he shares with ex-wife Jacqueline Ray, and Hannah, whom he shares with current wife Jillie Mack.
“I'm a fairly private person. And I've always treasured the balance between work and time with my family. It's always about them,” Selleck shared.
Len Cariou
Blue Bloods wouldn’t be what it is without Pop, or Henry Reagan. Portrayed by Len Cariou, Pop is the eldest member of the Reagan clan as father to Frank and grandfather to Danny, Erin and Jamie. He is also a great-grandfather on the series to Danny and Erin’s children.
In real life, Cariou has one daughter, Laurel Cariou, whom he shares with ex-wife Patricia Otter.
Donnie Wahlberg: Blue Bloods family lines
Danny Reagan, portrayed by Donnie Wahlberg, is a core member of the family and the oldest living son of Frank Reagan. The character himself has two kids, Jack and Sean, which is not completely dissimilar to the life of Wahlberg.
Wahlberg has two sons of his own, Xavier and Elijah, with his ex-wife, Kimberly Fey. The actor, who married Jenny McCarthy in 2014, is also a step-father to McCarthy’s son, Evan.
He shared a rare photo on Father’s Day 2019 of he and his sons. “#HappyFathersDay to the millions of other lucky guys (like myself) who have the honor of calling themselves a dad and sharing in the most important responsibility that a man will ever have in his lifetime — fatherhood.”
Bridget Moynahan
Bridget Moynahan portrays fierce, single mother Erin Reagan to Nicky on Blue Bloods and, as it turns out, her real life isn’t so different. Moynahan has one son, Jack, whom she shares with ex, Tom Brady. While their relationship ended just months before she announced her pregnancy, Moynahan was sure she could survive as a single mother.
“I’m not sure anyone — and I could be wrong in this — grows up thinking, I want to be a single mom… But I felt 100 percent that I could do this… now I have a child, and it’s the best thing in the world.”
Steve Schirripa: Blue Bloods family bloodlines
On Blue Bloods, Steve Schirripa’s character, Anthony Abetemarco, is a girl dad, just like Schirripa in real life. The actor is father to Ciara and Bria, whom he shares with wife Laura. Schirripa even wrote a book on being a girl dad, Big Daddy's Rules: Raising Daughters Is Tougher Than I Look.
“Kids have to rebel. It's their nature. It's their job. Your job (as a parent) is to give them something to rebel against,” Schirripa shared. He also explained that a “Big Daddy is a guy who's present at all times. He's got a big heart,” which is exactly who Schirripa is to his two daughters.

Vanessa Ray
While Vanessa Ray’s character, Eddie Janko, doesn’t have any children with her husband, Jamie, just yet, Ray herself is a new mother. She and her husband, Landon Beard, recently became parents via adoption to their son, Isaac Ray Beard.
“My husband and I weren't totally sure if we were going to have kids,” Ray shared, but remembers the day she called her husband and said, “I think we're supposed to be parents. I think we're supposed to adopt…It all happened in three weeks, really from zero to three weeks. Then we were bringing him out and it was incredible.”
