Bobby Mackey entering Kentucky Music Hall of Fame, Jeff Ruby set to introduce

A local country music legend will soon receive recognition for his contributions to Kentucky's music industry, a career that spans over 46 years.

Bobby Mackey, owner of Bobby Mackey's Music World in Wilder, Kentucky, will be inducted into the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame on Saturday, Oct. 26, at the Renfro Valley Entertainment Center in Mount Vernon. Jeff Ruby, the popular Cincinnati restaurateur, will be onstage to honor Mackey during the event, per a press release.

The 75-year-old singer will also be joined by his fellow 2024 inductees: Black Stone Cherry, Rodney Griffin, Paul Martin, Jimmy Mattingly, The McLain Family Band, Billy Moore, Ruble Sanderson, Sturgill Simpson, Charlie Sizemore and Gary Stewart.

The event is open to the public. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the ceremony begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are currently $75 and are available for purchase at renfrovalley.com.

In March, Mackey's venue announced plans to demolish its old building, often dubbed "America's most haunted nightclub," by the end of the summer and build a new one-story bar on the property, The Enquirer previously reported.

Bobby Mackey's is temporarily operating out of the former location of Mugbees Biker Bar and Restaurant. Owners Bobby and Denise Mackey have their sights set on moving into the new permanent home by 2026, but that date is subject to change.
