Bon Jovi pays tribute to Neil Diamond, Van Morrison on anthemic return single 'Legendary'

Whoa, whoa, whoa!

The new Bon Jovi single, “Legendary,” released today, is an inspirational uptempo rocker with drummer Tico Torres in the fore and plenty of group “whoas” putting the ribbon on the anthemic chorus.

Watch the video for it on Youtube.

There's also a nod to two rock legends on the new track: Neil Diamond and Van Morrison. Diamond's “Sweet Caroline” gets a reference and Morrison's “Brown Eyed Girl” does, too. The classic rock of Diamond and Morrison is played on Friday nights and that's where Bon Jovi wants to be in the song.

Live and you love

Is the law of the land

These are our dreams

That’s where we stand

“Legendary” is from the upcoming Bon Jovi album, “Forever,” due out June 7. It's available for pre-order.

“This record is a return to joy.  From the writing, through the recording process, this is turn up the volume, feel good Bon Jovi,” says Jon Bon Jovi in a statement.

The band members are Jon Bon Jovi, David Bryan, Tico Torres, Phil X, John Shanks, Hugh McDonald and Everett Bradley in the video for “Legendary.” The Jersey core members are Bon Jovi, Sayreville; Bryan, Edison; and Torres, Colonia.

Jon’s voice on “Legendary” sounds like his previous form. The Sayreville native said he's had surgery on his vocal cords to correct problems that go back a decade. The issue came to a head during the band's 2022 tour of the South and Midwest that was fraught with scrutiny.

The band took more than year off from live performances but they did release the single, "Christmas Isn't Christmas," in November.
