New Bon Jovi song 'Christmas Isn't Christmas' is soulful chestnut, with a nod to Elvis
It's kind of a blue Christmas for Bon Jovi, and it gives us a warm and cozy feeling.
“Christmas Isn’t Christmas,” Bon Jovi's first new song in three years, is a seasonal swayer that'll make you swoon. The track, which bemoans a sweetheart away on Christmas, uses the blues to tell a sad story that has a pronounced nod to Elvis Presley's classic, “Blue Christmas.”
“When the sky will shine a different kind of blue,” sings Jon Bon Jovi, extending “blue” with an Elvis styled trill.
Yes, Jon Bon Jovi is singing quite well here with a chestnut-fired soulful styling. His vocals were criticized on a short tour in 2022, but judging by this song he sounds in fine form.
