I Still Can't Get Over The "Squid Game" Cast Sweeping At The SAG Awards, Because They're All So Wholesome
Last night was the 2022 SAG Awards.
It was a monumental night for multiple reasons, but hands down one of the best moments was Squid Game sweeping the field.
Not only was Squid Game the first Korean TV show and the first foreign language TV series to win at the SAG Awards, but BOTH leads on the show, HoYeon Jung and Lee Jung-jae, won the lead actor category: Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series and Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series, respectively.
I wasn't the only one who was overjoyed at their win, because both times when their names were announced, there was an outpouring of support from the crowd and the Squid Game cast.
Not over this moment #sagawards
I'm crying.
EVERYONE SHUT UP LEE JUNG JAE WON #SAGAwards
HoYeon Jung's speech was so cute and pure and humble, it made my heart melt. "First and foremost, thank you so much," she said. "I have sat many a times, watching you on the big screen, dreaming of one day becoming an actor. I just want to say thank you so much."
Jung Ho-Yeon receives her first-ever Actor? for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series for her role in #SquidGame #sagawards
Keep in mind, this is HoYeon's first EVER acting role.
As in, she literally never acted before Squid Game, got cast in a leading role, and then beat out seasoned veteran actors to take home the top award for acting.
And Lee Jung-jae was obviously exceptional in his role as Seong Gi-hun.
He admitted in his acceptance speech that he did have a full speech written out, but didn't think he'd "get to reading it."
His reaction says it all ?? Lee Jung-Jae takes home the Actor? for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series! #sagawards
I just can't get over the fact that the two lead drama awards for acting went to actors from the same TV show.
Squid Game truly is THAT good.
