Bouncing Souls, Gaslight Anthem and Ozzy part of big rock star moment in Bradley Beach
A rare rock 'n' roll triumvirate recently went down in Bradley Beach.
Bryan Kienlen of the Bouncing Souls tattooed "Ozzy," as in Ozzy Osbourne, on the knuckles of Gaslight Anthem frontman Brian Fallon's left hand.
It happened at Kienlen's Anchors Aweigh Tattoo on the borough's Main Street.
"He contacted me a few days earlier to see if I was around and would I be available to do that ... and I said of course," Kienlen said. "Always time for Ozzy knuckles."
Kienlen has tattooed Fallon several times in the past. The Ozzy session happened Sunday, Jan 28, Fallon's birthday. Singer-songwriter Emily Wolfe, who's touring with Gaslight on their March European dates, also got an Ozzy tattoo from Kienlen.
"It was nice to meet her," said Kienlen of Wolfe. "She got the Ozzy tattoo on her wrist because her knuckles are all tatted up already."
"Such an honor!" commented Wolfe of on Kienlen's Instagram.
"Thank you Bryan!!!!" commented Fallon with three heart emojis.
Kienlen's Anchors Aweigh Tattoo has been in Bradley Beach since 2018. He has a new neighbor whom Fallon knows well. Alex Levine, bassist for Gaslight Anthem, opened the Idle Hand Barber Shop, also on Main Street, in the summer.
"We have those (rock 'n' roll moments) sometimes here in Bradley Beach, in my shop and we have Alex Levine on the next block," Kienlen quipped. "So we have a bass players row over here, also known as side hustle row."
Gaslight Anthem recently released the reunion album, "History Books."
The Bouncing Souls' upcoming shows include April 5 at Brooklyn Made in Brooklyn, and April 6 and 7 at Rocks off in New York City.
