Bowen Yang Says One 'SNL' Host Made Multiple Cast Members Cry
Saturday Night Live has seen plenty of unforgettable hosts in its half-century history, though typically, they're more remembered for their on-screen antics. One host in particular, however, has managed to sear an unfortunate image into the minds of several cast members due to their behind-the-scenes behavior.
Bowen Yang reflected on the backstage incident in an appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen on Sunday night. During a game of "Truth or Kink," Yang was asked about the worst SNL host behavior he's witnessed during his time on the show.
"This man, this person, this host made multiple cast members cry on Wednesday before the table read because he hated the ideas," Yang revealed. The 33-year-old didn't name the celebrity who was hosting, prompting some to wonder who the badly behaved person is.
Yang's Las Culturistas co-host Matt Rogers chimed in with his view on the situation. "He's got new PR and everything," Rogers quipped.
Yang first joined Saturday Night Live as a writer in 2018. The following year, he was promoted to cast member and quickly cemented his spot among the cast. Since then, he's racked up roles in movies such as Fire Island and shows like Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, The Simpsons, and Fantasmas.
This fall, Yang is set to star in perhaps his biggest film role yet as he appears alongside Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo in the highly anticipated film adaptation of Wicked.
Wicked will be in theaters Nov. 22. Wicked Part Two debuts next year on Nov. 26, 2025.
