Brady Street Fest will be 1 week earlier, to avoid conflict with Harley-Davidson festival
Brady Street Fest is moving its date from July 27 to July 20 this year, one week earlier than usual.
The street festival was moved to give "the community the opportunity to fully enjoy all that Brady Street Fest has to offer without any scheduling conflicts," BID Director Michael Sander said in a news release.
Brady Street Fest is usually held the last weekend of July, along with the Riverwest 24 and German Fest. In addition to those events, the Harley-Davidson Homecoming Festival and the Milwaukee Air & Water Show also announced it would be held the last weekend of July this year.
Sander told the Journal Sentinel that Harley-Davidson's festival was the main conflict. The Homecoming Festival, which will feature headliners Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jelly Roll and Hardy in concerts in Veterans Park, attracts tens of thousands of motorcyclists and motorcycle fans from around the world.
"If we move, it will be because of Harley Fest," Sander said earlier this year. "My big concern is to make a decision that is beneficial to all the businesses on Brady. Does that mean moving Brady Street Fest and participating in Harley Fest? That's a possibility."
Brady Street Festival was first held annually from 1974 to 1981. It was rebooted in 2007 and has been held on the last Saturday of July every year since, except for a two-year hiatus because the COVID-19 pandemic.
It is one of the most popular annual street festivals in Milwaukee, featuring many local musicians, along with food and merchandise vendors.
Brady Street Fest vendor applications are open and can be found on the BID's website, bradystreet.org.
