That’s Queen Cinderella to you.

In a new trailer for the upcoming Descendants: The Rise of Red, Brandy reprises her role as the iconic Disney princess, who now rules as a monarch nearly 30 years after the vocalist first starred in the role. But this time, her kingdom is in trouble.

That’s why it’s up to Cinderella and Prince — sorry, King — Charming’s daughter Chloe, played by Malia Baker, to save them. In the clip posted Thursday (May 23), Rita Ora’s Queen of Hearts — to the disappointment of her daughter Red, played by Kylie Cantrall — takes the royal couple prisoner while staging a coup on their kingdom.

“I will never kneel to a tyrant,” Brandy, dressed in her signature powder blue, boldly tells the Alice in Wonderland villain before reassuring her daughter. “It’s going to be OK.”

Once Cinderella is ushered away, Chloe and Red realize that they must team up to save her and undo the Queen of Hearts’ damage. How? By time traveling, of course. The frenemies go to the past with the power of a magical pocketwatch and meet the younger versions of their moms in an attempt to correct their missteps before they even happen.

The musical film is set to arrive on Disney+ July 12, about 27 years after the “Boy Is Mine” singer first starred alongside Whitney Houston in the 1997 TV movie Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella. Brandy’s involvement in the new project was first announced in November 2022, followed by a teaser video last year.

Posting the trailer on Instagram on Thursday, the R&B powerhouse wrote, “A new adventure awaits!”
