‘Breaking Bad’ Stars Playfully Bicker While Presenting SAG Drama Ensemble Award to ‘Succession’ Cast
The stars of Breaking Bad gathered Saturday for a profanity-laden reunion to present the trophy for best drama series ensemble to the cast of Succession at the 2024 SAG Awards.
Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul, Anna Gunn, Bob Odenkirk, Jonathan Banks, Dean Norris and R.J. Mitte were among those gathered to represent Breaking Bad, celebrating the show’s win in the category 10 years ago. After Gunn began spelling out the word “ensemble” by explaining that the “E” stands for “excitement,” Odenkirk quipped, “And the letter N. N stands for ‘no’ — no fucking way I’m going to do this cheesy thing where you say each letter of the word. I’m not doing it.”

Alan Ruck, who played Connor Roy on Succession, accepted the award on behalf of his fellow castmembers. “One last hurrah, I think,” Ruck said. “Right now, you’re looking at some of the luckiest people on the planet and some of the most grateful. Because not only did we get to all work on one of the best television shows, you know, maybe ever, we made friends for life.” He added, “Now we’re thrilled to be recognized by our peers.”
Ahead of the telecast, Oppenheimer and Barbie topped the film nominees with four apiece, with both nominated in the ceremony’s top category of best cast, facing American Fiction, The Color Purple and Killers of the Flower Moon. For the television categories, Succession led the way with five nominations, including best ensemble in a drama series. Also nominated in the category were The Crown, The Gilded Age, The Last of Us and The Morning Show.
The 2024 SAG Awards airs live on Netflix on Feb. 24 at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.
