Brett Eldredge Makes Major Festive Career Announcement That Involves Kelly Clarkson
Brett Eldredge is making fans feel jolly with his latest music announcement.
The country star had some festive news to share with his followers this week as he revealed via Instagram that he will be releasing another Christmas album later this month—but it gets even better.
Merry Christmas (Welcome to the Family) will mark Eldredge's third holiday album, and to make it even merrier, Kelly Clarkson is adding her angelic vocals to one of the tracks.
Clarkson, 42, is featured on the song "Sweet December," which is now her second holiday duet with the country crooner. The two also collaborated on "Under the Mistletoe" from her 2021 holiday album, When Christmas Comes Around.
“After singing ‘Under the Mistletoe’ together, I knew there was no one else in the world I wanted to sing this song with," Eldredge, 38, said in a statement to Billboard. "Kelly’s voice has this soulful retro feeling. I’ve never done a Christmas song in this style, and I really love it."
The American Idol winner added in her own statement to the outlet, “I’ve been fortunate enough to record songs with Brett, go see him live, and have him on my show! He has one of my favorite voices and I will sing with him anytime, anywhere! I hope people dig 'Sweet December' as much as we do!"
Aside from his collab with Clarkson, Eldredge will also be gifting his fans with seven other original holiday songs.
"After I finished the Glow tour last year, I immediately dove into writing an album full of original Christmas songs that will hopefully become classics in your hearts and minds," he wrote to his fans while sharing the good news on Instagram this week. "We recorded this album trying to encapsulate the classic Christmas sounds I’ve always loved and put my own soulful and jazz-like spin on it. Whatever you want to call it, just know it’s a reflection of the most important themes of the holidays—love, togetherness, family, and community."
"If you need a place to rest your soul and a group of magical humans to share it with, then just put this album on play, lay back, and take a breath," he added in the post, which included a peek at the album artwork for Merry Christmas (Welcome to the Family), featuring the "Mean to Me" singer riding a bike in a very Santa Claus-coded outfit.
"Sweet December," featuring Clarkson, which Eldredge said is one of his "favorite songs" on the new album, is out now. The rest of the album drops Sept. 27.
