Brian Kilmeade defends Donald Trump's 9/11 responder claims: 'He was downtown a lot after the 9/11 attacks'
Fox & Friends co-host Brian Kilmeade defended President Donald Trump’s 9/11 claims, in which POTUS told a crowd of first responders that he was “down there with you” at Ground Zero. On Tuesday, Kilmeade asserted that Trump did indeed appear downtown in the aftermath of 9/11.
“He was downtown a lot after the 9/11 attacks.” Kilmeade said.
On Monday, Trump signed the September 11 Victim Compensation Fund. At the time of the signing, Trump said he was there with first responders.
“I was down there also, but I’m not considering myself a first responder,” he said. “But I was down there. I spent a lot of time down there with you.”

Many commenters on Twitter were not pleased with Trump’s 9/11 claims and Kilmeade’s defense.
Knowing Trump, it would've been for the most egregiously self-serving of reasons.
Obviously, it's a lie, but Trump is that type of person.— Tre (@SouluosSFW) July 30, 2019
He bragged that with the Twin Towers gone he owned the tallest building in Manhattan. Took 9/11 $$ for a building over a mile from Ground Zero. Lied about celebrating Muslims. So, yeah. He was on TV.

Gee, I was in a state full of forest fires...I was there a lot.
Look Ma, I helped put out forest fires due to my mere presence in the near vicinity.
Good God! these people are desperate to try to justify each and every one of his lies.

The 45th president had some supporters, however.
Everyone saw @realDonaldTrump numerous times at ground zero after the attack!!

Not only was Trump down there, he had crews in aftermath helping.

I don’t really care where he was on that day!! I DO care about where he is today, and the great job he is doing to MAGA!!

Kilmeade also stood up for Trump in his latest feud with Al Sharpton.
“Al Sharpton has known Donald Trump for 30 years,” said Kilmeade. “He knows he’s not a racist, never was. They went to fights together. They hung out all the time together. Donald Trump supported his causes many times.”
