Bride Stops Her Own Wedding Ceremony After She Realizes Hilarious Mistake: 'All I Could Do Was Laugh' (Exclusive)
"When I finally took a little peek out of the corner of my eye and saw every single person still standing I could not believe it," the bride said
A bride came to the rescue of her wedding guests after they were left standing 13 minutes into the ceremony.
When bride Saigim Garcia Brown stood at the altar across from groom Clay Brown during their Georgia wedding on Sept. 28, she suddenly interrupted their own ceremony when she realized that all 145 guests were also standing.
"I was so nervous and trying so hard to be present and be in the moment so I was doing everything I could to not look out at the group of guests watching us. When I finally took a little peek out of the corner of my eye and saw every single person still standing I could not believe it," Garcia Brown tells PEOPLE.
"All I could think was, 'Oh no, I have read this ceremony script up and down and I know for a fact there is no cue in there letting people know to sit down.' I kept trying to make eyes at my now-husband but he was too in the moment to notice. I finally realized I had to say something or else they would be standing the rest of the ceremony!"
She subtly turned to the wedding officiant, her aunt Judith Garcia, and quietly requested she tell the guests to be seated. That's when they were met with a loud, blunt ask, causing everyone to erupt into laughter.
"It caught me so off guard but it was honestly SO her, so all I could do was laugh," Garcia Brown says. "It was so genuinely funny and pure, and honestly made the rest of the ceremony so fun and lighthearted. I think everyone laughed out of both comedic and physical relief."
The funny moment was captured by content creators Natasha and Michael Bolger of Boarding Pass Productions, which Garcia Brown later posted on TikTok. In the video, which now has 3.8 million views, Garcia Brown's father can even be heard blurting out "Finally!"

"I'm sure he was speaking for everyone," Garcia Brown tells PEOPLE, adding that it was "the cherry on top of the whole moment."
The bride took a bow and blew kisses to her wedding guests after stepping in. "You're welcome," she told them with a smile.
She would later learn that the unexpected situation is more common than she thought, with hundreds of people in her TikTok comments sharing how the same thing happened to them.
"I went to a wedding where they didn't tell anyone to sit and we all stood awkwardly for the ENTIRE ceremony," commenter Nanci Booth wrote. "When we got married this was the FIRST thing I told my officiant to make sure he does lmao."
Similarly, user Carissa Carver commented, "OUR WEDDING WAS THE SAME!!! His dad married us and was doing a long sermon, and my husband goes 'can they sit down…' ??."
