Jerry Hall and Rupert Murdoch Celebrate Their Wedding at the ‘Journalists’ Church’ in London

Now for the big party!

After media mogul Rupert Murdoch married model Jerry Hall in a private civil ceremony at Spencer House in London on Friday – she left in a trenchcoat, he called himself the “happiest AND luckiest man in the world” – the pair celebrated with a church ceremony on Saturday.

The couple marked their union with a marriage celebration in front of family and friends at St. Bride’s Church on Fleet Street in London, aka “the journalists’ church.”

Texan model Hall, 59, was stunning in an ice blue midi-length wedding gown while Murdoch, 84, wore a tailored navy blue suit with a white rose boutonniere.

A choir, packed with professional singers, led the musical appreciation and the couples’ children took leading roles in the commemoration of the nuptials. Hall has four children from her relationship with Rolling Stone Mick Jagger – Georgia May, 24, Elizabeth, 32, Gabriel, 18, and the recently-married James, 30 – while Murdoch has six from his two previous marriages: Prudence, James, 43, Lachlan, 44, Elisabeth, 47, Helen, 14, and Chloe, 12.

Elizabeth and Georgia were seen arriving to the church in matching light blue bridesmaids gowns. They were followed in a separate Range Rover by their mother, who was escorted to the church by James. Meanwhile, guests included Jade Jagger (the daughter of Mick and his former wife, Bianca Jagger), Andrew Lloyd Webber, actor Michael Caine, musician Bob Geldof, former Rolling Stone Bill Wyman, photographer David Bailey and former Sun editor Rebekah Brooks.

Murdoch, 84, and Hall, 59, emerged shortly after noon, following their hour-long service led by St. Bride’s vicar, Rev. Canon Dr. Alison Joyce, who was assisted by Fr. Jonathan Morris, from New York.

In keeping with the location, and the fact that Murdoch has owned newspapers most of his adult life, there was a large gathering of photographers in pens outside to witness the couple showing off their happiness.

The couple, who wed on Friday at Spencer House on the edge of Green Park following a whirlwind romance, were not able to wed at St. Bride’s because they were in such a rush to get hitched. So, they would not have had the opportunity to complete the necessary paperwork, PEOPLE has been told.

One of hurdle they faced was the fact that Murdoch and Hall are technically citizens of the United States. (Murdoch, who was born in Australia, became a U.S. citizen in 1985.) “You have to apply for special licenses if you are an American and they just didn’t have time to fulfill all the legalities required by the Church of England,” a church spokesman. “It was just very complicated logistically.”

But it was the perfect setting for someone like Murdoch, who has been around journalism all his life. Canon Joyce told PEOPLE, “Rupert Murdoch has significant personal links with St. Bride’s – there is a memorial plaque to his late father [Sir Keith Murdoch] here – and he has attended services here, from time to time, for many years, so in many ways St Bride’s is a natural choice for the service for him,” she says.

After the service, the wedding party is expected to head to a reception.
