'Bridgerton' star Nicola Coughlan asks fans to stop sharing opinions about her body
If you have comments about "Bridgerton" star Nicola Coughlan's body, it's advised you keep them to yourself.
The 35-year-old actress, who portrays Penelope Featherington in Netflix's period drama, shared a photo on Instagram Sunday and let her followers know "if you have an opinion about my body please, please don’t share it with me."
"Most people are being nice and not trying to be offensive but I am just one real life human being and it’s really hard to take the weight of thousands of opinions on how you look being sent directly to you every day," Coughlan captioned the post.
The "Derry Girls" star said though she understands she's a public figure and therefore people will have opinions and thoughts about her, she asks folks not to share them with her directly.

Coughlan is the latest celebrity to request people stop with the body comments.
Last year, Jonah Hill asked his three million followers to refrain from making comments about his body, whether they be positive or negative.
"I know you mean well but I kindly ask that you do not comment on my body (heart emoji) good or bad I want to politely let you know it's not helpful and doesn't feel good. Much respect," he wrote.
While it's easy to understand how negative comments about someone's body can be hurtful, praise can also be harmful, explained Chelsea Kronengold, communications lead at the National Eating Disorders Association, in an October interview with USA TODAY.
"It validates or emphasizes that our worth is tied to our appearance, and that's not true," she said.
Dr. Elizabeth Wassenaar, regional medical director at the Eating Recovery Center, agreed comments about how somebody's body looks or how someone's weight is changing, even if it feels like a positive comment, is "not something that is welcome."
"Commenting on someone's body size and shape and appearance in the world reinforces the message that people are only as much as their body, and that they are being judged by how they appear in the world," she said.
