Lesley Manville is returning to the world of murder mysteries.

This fall, she will reprise her role as Susan Ryeland, a book editor turned inadvertent detective after her author dies under mysterious circumstances. " I had an incredible time returning to the role of the smart and feisty Susan Ryeland. Anthony Horowitz has written another ingenious adaptation and I’m thrilled to be a part of it," Manville said in a statement.

Here's everything we know about Moonflower Murders:

Moonflower Murders will pick up where Magpie Murders left off.

Magpie Murders aired in 2022, and captivated audiences for its story-within-a-story structure. Watch a trailer for it here:

Moonflower Murders is a direct sequel. Per PBS Masterpiece, "Susan has left publishing and is living in Crete with her long-time boyfriend, Andreas. But her idyll is disturbed by the shadow of a murder committed at a British country hotel eight years ago. Alan Conway visited the hotel and wrote a novel based on what happened there. Cecily Treherne, the young woman who helps run the hotel, read the book and believed the wrong man had been arrested. Now she has disappeared. Can Susan uncover the secret hidden in the book and find Cecily before it is too late?"

It's based on Anthony Horowitz's book of the same name.

Horowitz, a prolific author, adapted Moonflower Murders for television. He spoke T&C around the premiere of Magpie Murders about why he loves the genre so much: "Murder mystery is an opportunity to close the shutters, to draw up the bed clothes, to make yourself that hot chocolate with marshmallows and sit back and like Sherlock Holmes, just revel in the intellectual pursuit of truth," Horowitz said.

He continued, "That's what a murder mystery, is pure and simple: an opportunity to make the world a better place. A detective arrives in a troubled community where everybody is at each other's throats, where there is a dead body, where there is suspicion, anger, enemy, resentment, fear. And by the time they leave that society, that community, has healed itself. There's a sense that everything is all right in the world. And I think that detective stories—murder mysteries—unlike true crime, which often are not solved. But in a detective story like mine, the resolution, the sense of everything is all right, is really core to why these books succeed."
