British singer Red has tied the knot with musician Mark Angels!
The artist, known for her collaborative performances with the likes of Diana Ross, Ed Sheeran, Alicia Keys, Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Andrea Bocelli wed Angels on July 17 in a "black-tie summer bling,” at the Orangery, Maidstone Kent, England in front of 115 guests.
"After initially planning to get married in the Philippines, we were looking to find a venue that shared similarities of my fiancé’s culture as well as our British roots," Red shares, adding that the pair fell in love with the Orangery for it's “Lapa” and "gorgeous lake." Red adds that the site for their vows "brings back fond memories of where we got engaged in Mark’s homeland - The Philippines."
When it came to wedding planning, Red says that the couple's main goal was "creating memories with our loved ones," which inspired them to book a 9-bedroom mansion in the Kent countryside for a welcome brunch pool party to start the festivities.
To kick off the wedding the following day, bagpipes played as guests arrived to the ceremony.
"A bagpiper at our ceremony was something we both felt strongly about, bringing our Scottish heritage to the ceremony was a must-have," says Red. The music then transitioned to "a string quartet headed by our friend Olivia, who has played for some of the biggest pop acts in the UK [including] Ed Sheeran and Adele," says Red. Olivia prepared "bespoke arrangements" of the couple's "favorite songs to walk down the aisle to and entertain our guests."
For her wedding day looks, Red enlisted Eleganza Sposa to create two different dresses. The ceremony dress, which she calls "a fairytale dream come true," featured "an extravagant train fit for a princess, Swarovski crystal veil and belt to match," which the singer says incorporates a "tasteful amount of bling."
Angels opted for a Scottish national kilt as his ceremony attire.
The bride later changed into a reception look designed to channel "old Hollywood glam," according to the star, which was comprised of "a short gold structured mini dress with feathers, pearl embellishment and opera gloves for drama."
For dinner, guests enjoyed "steak and chips as part of our canapé options to traditional Scottish meals such as square sausage rolls for the evening buffet." The couple also incorporated "Scotland’s national drink 'Irn Bru' on tap at the bar specifically brought in for Mark."
The party continued on with "a 12 piece Gospel Choir to flash mob during dinner." Highlighting the musical talent of many of their guests, attendees were invited to an "open mic" with their wedding band.
The couple first connected after Red "came across one of Mark’s YouTube videos many years ago and was drawn to his voice and charisma. Through a "mutual friend who put us in touch," the duo "bonded instantly over our love for R&B music and our drive to be successful"
"We became inseparable best friends for two years before the inevitable attraction started to blossom," she continues. "Eight years later, I am now getting married to my best friend."
Angels adds that he loves how "unapologetically fearless" the singer is, noting how he is "thankful" for her "constantly pushing me to be the best version I can, loving me through all my flaws and never letting me settle for comfortability."
"Our wedding can only be described as a movie," says Red. "With twists and turns, but always ending in pure bliss and euphoria. And of course, a partner for life who I can grow old with and relive every moment with."
